Support Group:

Detach With Love: A Support Group for Families will begin meeting on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 5:30-6:30 pm on Tuesday, November 10th. The group meets at the Full Life Counseling office at 942 W. 4th St. in the West End neighborhood across from Grace Park. These are, indeed, hard times for many families, and yet those hard times don't change the need for support. Families with loved ones in early recovery or in relapse need lots of support. There is not a set fee for the group. Members should pay what they can, when they can. The goal here is to make sure people stay engaged with a community of support (even when cashflow is low) and pay for services as they are able. This is a support group (not a therapy group). Members benefit from each others' stories and the sense that they are not alone. Members help each other have hope, concentrate on increasing self-care efforts, and explore ways to show love without continuing old enabling behaviors with those they love who are in recovery or active addiction. You don't have to be a Full Life Counseling client or Al-Anon member to participate. Please call me and talk with me on the phone before you come to your first group if you have not seen me for other services. If you are NOT participating in An-Anon though, I strongly encourage you to come to this group! If you have questions, please call me. Recovery is a life-long process, both for the chemically dependent person and those they love. Comfort, encouragement, ideas and support can come from joining with others along a similar journey. Please join us for the Detach With Love group, beginning Tuesday, November 10th at the office of Full Life Counseling, 942 West Fourth Street near West End Cafe and Grace Park.

Early Recovery/Relapse Prevention Group:  Mondays, 6:30-8:30. See more details on the Relapse Prevention  page.

Community Services:

SAFE HOMES in the Triad is an online effort to engage parents of teens in the Triad region of NC to partner together to help reduce the risk for underage drinking and drug use. Parents "make the pledge" to monitor teen activities in their homes to insure that parties and gatherings at their home are alcohol- and drug-free events. Pledging parents have the opportunity to access a confidential directory of other pledging parents as a tool when making parenting decisions to allow teens to socialize at the homes of other teens. SAFE HOMES in the Triad is a free community service sponsored by Full Life Counseling with the full endorsement of 100% of the high school principals in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system.

Prodigals Community is a recovery ministry in Winston-Salem that models the core principles of Christian community, 12-step recovery and contemporary therapeutic community to help chronic addicts and alcohols learn to live in recovery together. Ginny volunteers with small projects for Prodigals from time to time, contracts with Prodigals for larger community/family education projects, and helps promote Prodigals services as a quality therapeutic recovery community. Prodigals and Full Life Counseling have a cooperative relationship for Full Life staff to provide some clinical and/or intervention services to Prodigals referrals whose services are being covered by churches, etc. More details available upon request.
