FAMILIES RECOVER,  July 23 - 25, 2010

Families experience addiction, and ideally, families experience recovery together. But family members often miss out on the opportunity to participate in treatment centers' family programs or never get the chance because their loved one never received treatment. Hurt feelings, mistrust, worry, uncertainty and fear can consume family members, even after their loved one begins the journey of recovery.

From those who've "been there"........

“I wanted to find out more about what I could do and what I shouldn’t do,”
               — Patsy, mother of 27 y/o Matt

“Actually, the entire family did not understand what was happening. Even now, more than 25 years later, some members of my family remain bitter, and we have never been able to resolve those hard feelings.” — Joe, 25 years into recovery

So Full Life Counseling joins together with Pavillon International  and the Moravian Church to offer the Pavillon-model for Family Recovery to families in our area, on the beautiful campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem.

Who should participate:  Families Recover is open to any family member or person over the age of 16 who cares about someone with alcoholism, addiction or chemical dependency, regardless of whether or not that person(s) ever completed treatment or experienced recovery. Family members play important roles during periods of active using, relapse and/or active recovery, so we believe that there's always an opportunity for family & friends to know how to help. Family members, friends, clergy or physicians are all encouraged to participate.

By offering Families Recover over a weekend, we hope to offer a family program that is more feasible and affordable than those that are mid-week. Participants who are employed full-time and whose other responsibilities have interfered with family program opportunities will find the weekend format more accessible. But make no mistake, this will be a full, intense and inspiring weekend.

Friday, July 23rd - 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Saturday, July 24th - 8:30 am - 8:00 pm

Sunday, July 25th - 8:30 am - 5:30 pm

Accommodations are "on your own," as are most meals. We'll offer a snack supper on Friday evening then take breaks during the day on Saturday and Sunday. For those who prefer them, box lunches may be ordered on Saturday & Sunday to allow more "downtime" during the family weekend.

See the Directions & Info tab for more information.
